COUNTRY COACH HAS INTRODUCED THE INTRIGUE with a “Cook’s Dream” floorplan, featuring an 11-foot galley slideout — the first appearance of an expanding room in the company’s 32-foot widebody model. A Country Coach spokesperson said the new model is aimed at high-line diesel-pusher buyers who may want to downsize while retaining the livability of a larger coach.
The addition of the slideout in the 32-foot Intrigue provides more living space than a 36-foot coach without a slideout, suggests the spokesperson. The 11-foot slideout, which is 23 inches deep, is driven by twin HWH hydraulic actuators. The mechanism features a speech processor that issues caution messages when the room is extended or
retracted. The room automatically locks in place when retracted, and the moving plumbing
assembly has undergone rigorous independent testing — 10,000 test cycles with no failures, amounting to 28 years of average use — to assure reliability, according to the company’s spokesperson. The relatively short wheelbase and 50-degree wheel cut create a highly maneuverable motorhome that can conform to length restrictions in many state and federal campgrounds.
The coach rides on Country Coach’s proprietary DynoMax semi-monocoque chassis with 8×3-inch main rail tubes. Large bus-style air springs and adjustable Koni gas shock absorbers control suspension movement. New in this 2000 model is a Neway independent front suspension coupled with an ipd sway bar. The rear suspension utilizes an AD-200 Neway assembly.
Coach walls are vacuum-bonded with polystyrene foam insulation; exterior walls and the front and back caps are gelcoat fiberglass. The one-piece fiberglass roof is molded
to the caps. The Intrigue is powered by a Cummins ISC diesel engine coupled to an Allison
MD 3060 six-speed automatic transmission. The engine is rated at 330 hp and 950 lb-ft of
torque; an optional version of the same engine, rated at 350 hp and 1,050 lb-ft of torque,
may be specified. The interior is fitted with Corian countertops and lacquered solid
hardwood cabinets, and buyers can choose from three hardwood varieties. Tank capacities
are: 134 gallons of combined waste water (two tanks), 100 gallons of fresh water, a
10-gallon water heater (LP-gas and electric), 42.4 gallons of propane and 110 gallons of
diesel fuel with access fillers on both sides. Suggested retail price is $214,600. Article
