Camping in Catalina?

Believe it or not, five campgrounds dot the little island paradise,
providing a choice of beach views, mountain sites, remote camping,
family accommodations and convenience. Of course, this is a getaway from
the luxury of slideouts, microwaves and wraparound entertainment
centers; camping in Catalina includes a few tent cabins, which sleep
six, and 122 tent sites.

Hermit Gulch Campground, a healthy walk (or a short taxi ride) from the
Avalon boat landing, sits among towering trees and undulating hills.
Lighted restrooms with coin-operated showers, picnic tables and supplies
are available through the ranger. Within walking distance of the
stables and the golf course, this is the most convenient park to the
town; others are accessible via the Safari Bus.

Visitors up for an old-fashioned camping experience, those who
don’t mind carrying in some gear and being one with nature, should
consider an adventure on Catalina Island.
