With any time spent enjoying the outdoors, whether it be at our national parks, city spaces or driving down the open highway, it’s evident that any places attracting people could use an occasional cleanup. As part of a 16-year tradition, members of the Good Sam Club are once again banding together to pick up trash across North America in an effort to preserve public lands.

This year is no exception, as members of the world’s largest RV community head outdoors the weekend of May 19 and 20, 2012, to remove litter and debris from roadsides, beaches, campgrounds, parks and anywhere else that could use some spring-cleaning. With thousands of bags of trash collected from Florida to Alaska, the annual Good Sam Cleanup Days event provides a much-needed public service at a time when federal, state and municipal agencies have less money to spend on maintenance, grounds keeping and trash collection.

Good Sam Cleanup At Happy Green Acres Park “We’re proud of the efforts of our Good Sam Club members and chapter members who continue to participate in this program each year and make this event a success,” says Good Sam Club President Mike Siemens.

The Good Sam Club is a sister company of Camping World, America’s largest retailer of RV supplies, services and new and used RVs. Good Sam members are invited to drop off bags of trash at any one of Camping World’s 85 SuperCenters.

Everyone’s welcome to pitch in on Good Sam Cleanup Days. Members who don’t belong to a chapter and individuals who aren’t Good Sam members are encouraged to contact a Good Sam Club director for information on volunteering with a local group. Email addresses for state and provincial directors can be found at GoodSamClub.com/chapters.

About the Good Sam Club

Good Sam Club’s first Cleanup Day took place back in 1996. Since then, it has grown from a one-day activity to a full weekend with thousands of club members from hundreds of local chapters devoting their time to make the world a cleaner place. In previous years, members have picked up trash, painted fences, pruned trees, restored hiking trails and done carpentry work.

Making RVing a safer and more rewarding experience for its 1.3 million members and nearly 1,500 local chapters is what the Good Sam Club is all about. The Good Sam Club has effectively influenced legislation on issues ranging from outdoor recreation on public lands to RV parking and scenic byways. The club offers a consumer-advocacy program, provides exclusive RV recall information and manages a volunteer network that provides referrals to traveling members. Good Sam not only unites with Camping World to provide substantial member savings, the club also partners with Pilot Flying J for fuel discounts, hosts Good Sam Rallies and offers many other benefits and services.
