Intrigue 530

An industrial-strength coach with charm, comfort and sophistication, the 2006 Country Coach
Intrigue 530 has been completely restyled, given a one-piece windshield and has two new,
multi-slide floorplans — and a host of notable updates. The slideouts feature flat floors
on both sides of the coach and, for easier access to cargo, all bay doors below them are
side-hinged. There is plenty of pass-through storage to make good use of generous payload.
Using three or four slideouts with generous dimensions allows for a modular approach to
floorplan design. “The neat thing is we have a flat-floor slide with large windows, so you
can manipulate your floorplan,” said Carol Taylor-Clay, training director at Country Coach.
“You can get opposing chairs and tables, or any of three other arrangements. It gives you
that flexibility.” The Intrigue 530 is based on the DynoMax chassis. “We build the chassis
— it’s strictly Country Coach — and it’s a beefy chassis, with welded components, which
has a lot to do with the ride of the coach,” she added. The custom chassis supports use of
air springs and independent, double-wishbone front suspension. “Independent front
suspension in a motorhome is huge,” explained Taylor-Clay. “You don’t have that transfer of
road vibration through the steering wheel. It makes a big difference in handling and ride.”
The chassis also is fitted with Koni shock absorbers and an ipd front antisway bar. Also
new for 2006 is a Caterpillar C13 engine option, providing 525 hp and 1,650 lb-ft of torque
(a 400-hp Cummins 8.9-l ISL is standard), coupled to an Allison 4000-series transmission.
To permit a relaxing atmosphere, the Intrigue’s ceilings have been raised to 82 inches, and
the lighting system has been upgraded. “We use sconce lighting with dimmer switches to make
the lighting more friendly,” noted Taylor-Clay. “Plus, we use halogen lighting throughout
to give the same light quality you find in your home. Fluorescent can be efficient, but it
doesn’t provide warmth, and creates glare,” said Taylor-Clay. The Intrigue’s base price is
a hefty $421,810, but it’s not intended as an entry-level motorhome. “Typically, [our
customer is] somebody who has had a motorhome or two before,” Taylor-Clay added, “and this
time around, they really want a quality motorhome.” Standards include three slideouts, XM
satellite radio and a 32-inch LCD HD television. However, the opportunity to customize to
practically any level is built into the proposition. The options list includes a fourth
slideout; four finishes of custom woodwork and cabinetry; a combination-lock safe;
all-electric appliances with supporting systems (larger alternator, four AGM batteries,
3,000-watt inverter); California-queen or king-size bed; 400-watt solar system; and 37-inch
LCD HD television in front (and a 32-inch LCD for the bedroom). Other options include
SmarTire II, a heated/massage driver’s seat, on-board navigation system and Girard electric
