MHC Debuts Motorhome With a View

MHC Group Inc., a manufacturer of high-end RVs, has received strong initial consumer
interest for its new Skydeck diesel-pusher motorhome. MHC, located in Rancho Cucamonga,
California, unveiled the new 39-foot coach during a recent RV rally in Oklahoma City,
Oklahoma. The motorhome expands entertainment options by adding a rooftop deck with seating
for up to 18 people. According to Gordie Hakes, owner and CEO of MHC Group: “The Skydeck
will be successful because it gives motorhome owners more usable space, packaged in a
distinctive vehicle that will really set them apart from their neighbors. The rooftop deck
offers an expanded ‘play space’ that allows RVers to more fully share their lifestyle with
family and friends.” MHC plans to begin shipping the Skydeck, which is expected to retail
between $265,000 and $300,000, as a 2002 model-year vehicle. The Skydeck is the first new
motorhome designed and built by the new management of MHC, which also produces vehicles
under the Summit, Pinnacle, Residency and Traveleze brands. The Skydeck is designed for
motorhome owners who enjoy entertaining or attending outdoor events. It features a
200-square-foot deck that can be accessed by a spiral or conventional staircase in the
coach’s living area. In addition to the rooftop deck, complete with cushioned seating for
18 people, a queen-size sun lounger, a 6-foot built-in barbecue console and innovative
exterior storage space, the Skydeck features two slideouts, one in the living area and one
in the bedroom; a Spartan Mountain Master chassis; a Cummins 330- or 350-hp engine and a
six-speed transmission; and premium decorative touches, including exterior decals that
change color, depending on the viewer’s perspective.
