Bosch’s Power Box Goes Ballistic

Bosch Power BoxEver since technology allowed the home entertainment system to be
downsized and carried on the shoulders of teenagers, portable stereos
have never been the same. If you think the “last big thing” was the
addition of an MP3 player, however, you haven’t seen Bosch’s Power Box.

Intentionally capturing the look of a caged, portable AC
generator you’d expect to see on a construction site, the Power Box
offers much more than just music: One side features a battery charger
for 12- to 24-volt cordless batteries, another sports 4-way GFCI power
outlets for powering up tools and equipment and the third has a 12-volt
outlet for charging cell phones.

And yes, it does play music. The radio tuner includes 20 FM and
10 AM station presets, plus the unit’s CD-player accepts MP3 and
CD-R/RW discs. There also are four equalizer settings (plus enhanced
“Bosch Sound”), and a digital clock. The four speakers are claimed to be
weather-resistant. The Power Box is suspended by durable rubber cords
inside a protective aluminum roll cage and has been tested by the
manufacturer in drops as high as 10 feet.
