Steak Stop

Pinetop, in eastern Arizona, is one of the state’s most popular resort areas, with boating,
fishing and a host of other outdoor activities in summer, plus excellent skiing in winter.
But for anyone who enjoys a blackened prime rib, New York steak, T-bone, rib-eye or filet
mignon, an even better reason to visit the town is to dine at Charlie Clark’s Steakhouse.
The restaurant is run by Bill and Tricia Gibson, who bought it 20 years ago. Bill grew up
in a ranching family, but he prefers cooking beef to raising it. Tricia came to work as a
waitress and soon married the boss. The restaurant was founded in 1928 by Jake Renfro as
the Log Cabin CafŽ. Charlie Clark, an old cattleman, bought it in 1938 and changed the
name. The business has grown steadily ever since. Today, five dining rooms can serve 300
diners, the bar can accommodate about 100 more, and there is an adjacent orchard for
outdoor activities. Parking is ample for RV visitors. Charlie Clark’s Steakhouse is open
