Any RVers looking for a bit of science on their sunny Florida drive can’t pass up the Kennedy Space Center.
The NASA facility isn’t sending men to space anymore, but there are still rocket launches to be seen, IMAX movies to be watched and various tours of the historic site that sent the first men to the moon.
Visitors looking for the astronaut experience can even book time in the Astronaut Training Experience program. The half-day programs include simulations and a meeting with veteran astronauts. There is also a family program; which sends mom, dad and the kids on their own simulated space mission.Â
The programs and admissions aren’t cheap, but anyone interested in space exploration and the science or history behind it would be hard pressed to pass up the experience. Entrance to the complex and the Astronaut Hall of Fame runs $43 for adults and $33 for children. Each tour also comes with additional fees. The Astronaut Training Experience starts at $145.Â
After getting their fill of science and history, RVers can direct their vehicle to the nearby Great Outdoors RV, Nature & Golf Resort. The park earned top honors from Trailer Life Directory in 2011 and features full hookups, a spa, fishing, a heated pool and — of course — golf.
