Slow Refueling

Ken Freund Coach & Powertrain

May 20, 2015

I have a 32-foot 1998 Bounder Class A and my problem is with refueling. Sometimes the coach will take fuel readily and at other times it only allows fuel to trickle in to the tank. I try to find stations with a slope where I can park with the front end down, which sometimes helps, but is not always... Read more »

Transmission Position While Towing

May 20, 2015

I have just read that a 2010 Jeep Wrangler must be placed in park while being flat towed. I own a 2006 four-wheel-drive Jeep Liberty, and in the past, I have flat-towed it with the four-wheel transfer case in neutral and also the transmission in neutral. By doing this am I harming the transmission?... Read more »

TV Vibration

May 20, 2015

We own a 2005 Phoenix Cruiser 2350 motorhome. It has a flat-screen TV that is mounted on a swivel arm located over the cab area, between the driver and passenger seats. When traveling, the TV vibrates and rattles; this gets worst at highway speeds. We have tried a number of ways to stop the vibration.... Read more »

February 19, 2015

I have a 2011 Damon Astoria 40KT. The issue is the dash heater; it seems insufficient to provide adequate comfort heating when traveling down the highway. When I first took possession of the coach, I noticed this and my local service technician said the baffles were not completely open, so he... Read more »

Oil Consumption Mystery

May 30, 2014

We recently ran into a problem with our motorhome that we can’t figure out. We own a 2007 Newmar Dutchstar powered by a 400-hp Cummins ISL turbodiesel engine. It has about 36,000 miles on it. During our last trip, we suddenly began to go through a considerable amount of oil. Eventually, we discovered... Read more »

I have an Onan MicroQuiet 4000 generator in my 2003 Four Winds . I bought this coach in 2005, and the 4kW generator has worked well until recently. I always make sure the generator crankcase oil level is full before each trip. The generator uses little, if any, crankcase oil. We took a camping... Read more »

Towing Capacity Clarification

March 25, 2014

We bought a 2008 Damon Daybreak 3276 motorhome last fall and would like to tow a vehicle behind it. I’ve talked to several people and dealers, and have received conflicting information. We have an 18-foot flat deck auto hauler trailer, which we had planned to use for this purpose. I have a 10,000-pound... Read more »

Engine Dies When Stopping

March 25, 2014

I have a 1998 35-foot Forest River on a 1997 Ford chassis with a 7.5-liter fuel-injected V-8 and 80,000 miles. The engine sometimes dies when I stop at a red light. I have to shift into neutral, restart and keep my foot on the gas pedal to get going again. This doesn’t occur all the time. It usually... Read more »

Sticky Steps

March 20, 2013

I purchased a new 2000 Itasca Suncruiser 35U and have never been more pleased. I have kept the unit in exceptional shape and everything still operates as new, except the retracting step. No matter how much WD-40 I use, it still stops retracting. Is there a better lubricant, or should I bite the bullet... Read more »

Preserve Tire Life

Ken Freund Coach & Powertrain

March 15, 2013

My question pertains to motorhome tires I just purchased. These are 245/70R19.5 Goodyear tires. Motorhome tires are normally replaced before their treads are gone. What is a general rule for the life expectancy of motorhome tires? Should I wait until a certain mileage, or how old should the tires be... Read more »
